Axiothea Hotel: plan your stay

Axiothea offers a different starting point from the beachfront resorts: a family-run hotel in the upper, older part of Paphos. Choose it for town streets, independent meals and a view across the wider city, with the coast explored on planned outings.

A good fit for

Visitors who prefer a smaller Old Town base and independent exploring over a resort-led holiday.

Worth weighing up

A sea view from the upper town is not a beachfront location. Harbour visits involve a journey downhill and back.

Why choose the Old Town?

Axiothea is in the inland upper town, close to the municipal park and the older streets of Paphos. This gives the stay a different rhythm from the harbour hotel strip: start with cafés, town walks and local meals, then set aside another part of the day for the coast. It is a useful choice when exploring the town is the priority rather than spending most afternoons beside a resort pool.

Room views and practical comforts

Rooms have different outlooks, including views towards the sea and inland town views. The listed facilities include air conditioning, a small fridge, a television and private bathrooms, with family accommodation among the options. Check the actual room layout and outdoor space before choosing. A distant sea view can be enjoyable without making the property close to a beach, so keep those two decisions separate.

Breakfast and independent evenings

Breakfast service, a bar and an art-gallery setting give the hotel its own character, while the surrounding town offers opportunities to eat independently. Confirm what breakfast is included in your selected rate and its serving hours if you have an early tour. Plan one or two evening meals near your base so that not every day ends with transport back from the waterfront.

Arrival, parking and the uphill return

On-site parking is listed, but confirm current arrangements if you will arrive by car. For a late flight, agree arrival details in advance. Without a car, think about the return journey from the harbour as carefully as the outward journey. The difference in elevation matters after a long sightseeing day, especially in warm weather or when carrying shopping and beach equipment.

A short stay with a clear structure

Give your first afternoon to the Old Town, then plan a separate harbour and archaeology day. A further beach outing or organised tour can add variety if you are staying longer. Check tour pickup carefully: an Old Town address may not be covered in the same way as the coastal hotels. A named meeting point is more useful than a broad promise of Paphos collection.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Compare the room, not just the hotel.

Confirm the room’s outlook and beds, breakfast basis, arrival time and parking or transfer plan. Ask about the precise room-access route if stairs or slopes are a concern.
