Seven days in Paphos without a car: a realistic first-visit plan
Base yourself near Kato Paphos harbour, keep three days local, and use buses or organised transport for the rest. This seven-day plan leaves room for arrival, a sandy beach, the Old Town and one bigger outing without turning every morning into a transfer.
| Your priority | Start here | The trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Days 1–2 | Arrival, harbour and Archaeological Park | Keep the first day flexible around your flight. |
| Days 3–4 | Old Town, then Coral Bay | Two different journeys; do not squeeze both into one afternoon. |
| Days 5–6 | One organised outing, then Tombs of the Kings | Choose the excursion to match the season and your pickup. |
| Day 7 | A local final day | Checkout does not extend room access. |
Day 1: settle in and use the neighbourhood
Leave the arrival day deliberately light. Drop your bags under the hotel’s agreed arrangements, find a nearby meal and take a short waterfront walk if you have the energy. Do not make a paid afternoon departure depend on an inbound flight landing on time.
Find the essentials you will use again: the hotel entrance at night, somewhere for breakfast if it is not included, and the stop for your first bus journey. If you arrive late, make the airport-to-hotel journey the whole plan and start sightseeing the following morning.
Day 2: Archaeological Park and a harbour afternoon
Give the Archaeological Park the main part of the morning, especially when heat makes exposed walking less comfortable later. Follow it with lunch and an easy harbour afternoon rather than adding a second major archaeological site. The park involves outdoor ground and more walking than a single museum room.
This is the day to discover your own pace. If the morning has been enough, return to the hotel. If you still want more, extend the waterfront time. Keep Tombs of the Kings for another day so the two sites do not become one long sequence of ruins.
Day 3: give the Old Town its own outing
Use route 610 between the harbour and Municipal Market as the transport starting point. Begin around the market and upper-town streets, add a café stop and choose lunch there. The Old Town is inland and uphill; it is not the collection of waterfront souvenir shops beside the harbour.
For a relaxed day, arrange the return before adding extra stops. A late lunch and a hotel afternoon are enough. If shops or a particular indoor attraction are the reason for going, use their current hours rather than assuming every business follows the same schedule.
Day 4: make Coral Bay the main event
From the harbour, the current route pattern is 611 towards Tombs of the Kings Station, then 615 to Coral Bay. Settle the return connection before spreading out on the beach. Take what you need for a straightforward beach day and choose the main bay or Laourou deliberately.
If the weather is unsuitable, exchange this day with the Old Town or hotel day. A seven-day itinerary is a set of building blocks, not a requirement to swim on a particular date. Travellers who need a simpler journey can budget for a taxi instead of forcing the bus plan.
Day 5: choose one bigger outing
For a water-focused week, compare Blue Lagoon trips with pickup that explicitly serves your hotel. For a change of scenery, compare a village, mountain or food-and-wine outing. Read the route and time in the vehicle before choosing; a full-day tour is a different commitment from a short boat trip.
Book one strong excursion rather than filling every remaining day. Keep the preceding evening easy and avoid relying on an unrelated public bus to reach an early meeting point. The exact provider confirmation should establish where and when you join.
Day 6: Tombs of the Kings, then free time
Visit Tombs of the Kings as its own archaeological outing. Use the 611 route towards the Tombs of the Kings area and choose the appropriate stop from the current operator information; the station name is not a promise of arrival at the attraction gate. Allow for outdoor walking and uneven surfaces.
Keep the second half of the day free for a favourite restaurant, the hotel pool or something you missed earlier. Families may prefer to replace this day with the waterpark when it is operating. That is a sensible substitution, not something to add on top of the archaeology.
Day 7: keep the final day close
Use the final day for a nearby meal and one short outing. Agree luggage storage and any late-room arrangement with the hotel before relying on them. A late flight does not mean you can continue using the room until evening.
Leave enough time for the airport transfer and avoid a long excursion on departure day. If you have an early flight, move the final local afternoon to day six. The value of this itinerary is that you have enjoyed several different parts of Paphos without needing every day to run perfectly.
