Paphos holidays and festivals: a visitor’s calendar for 2027

← All local guides

Choose when to visit Paphos with the local calendar in mind. Orthodox Easter, Christmas and coastal celebrations can change the shape of a holiday, from the food on the table to the bus home.

Choose the experience before choosing the dates

If you want local food traditions and church celebrations, start with Orthodox Easter. If your priority is a festive hotel break with a village outing, start with Christmas. For a coastal celebration, investigate Kataklysmos. These are different reasons to travel; the right dates depend on which experience would make the journey worthwhile.

A school holiday at home does not necessarily coincide with a Cypriot holiday. Compare your actual arrival and departure dates with the local calendar before choosing a hotel or building a list of things to do. Keep ordinary sightseeing days around the main celebration rather than trying to fit everything into it.

A confirmed holiday is not a confirmed event programme

The dates above identify occasions to plan around. They do not confirm a parade route, concert, boat race or restaurant opening. Detailed 2027 Paphos Carnival and Kataklysmos programmes are still awaiting confirmation here, so treat those event plans as provisional.

For an event-led trip, confirm the venue, time and booking arrangements with the organiser before committing to travel. An old poster with the correct festival name can still give you the wrong weekend. Check the year as well as the date when planning around an announcement.

Winter celebrations: Christmas through Epiphany

A winter stay works best with a comfortable hotel base, a few planned meals and flexible sightseeing. The Statos–Agios Fotios Christmas village season runs from 21 November 2026 to 6 January 2027. Individual activities and opening hours vary across that period.

Separate a trip into the Paphos hills from an evening around your hotel. A coastal base can be convenient for food and walking, while a village outing needs its own outward and return transport. Our Christmas guide helps you make those choices without assuming summer opening patterns.

Spring: Carnival, Green Monday and Easter

Carnival and Green Monday precede Orthodox Easter, but the town’s performance dates need a municipal programme. Easter itself deserves more than a note on a beach itinerary: family gatherings, services and holiday closures can affect what you can do on particular days.

In 2027 the Western and Orthodox Easter weekends are different. Decide whether you are travelling for school holidays, religious celebrations or a spring break, then use the relevant dates. Avoid advertising a late-March visit as the local Orthodox Easter experience.

Summer and autumn: leave room for local life

Kataklysmos offers a reason to spend time around the waterfront, but Paphos harbour and Latchi harbour are different destinations. Choose the programme you want to attend before booking a meal or boat trip. For August and the October national holidays, check any specific attraction or service that your day depends on.

You do not need to turn every public holiday into an event outing. A nearby meal, time at the hotel and a short coastal walk can be a more comfortable plan when your usual attraction is closed. Save an alternative that does not require another timed booking.

Check transport, banks and attraction opening separately

A bank-holiday list does not tell you whether a restaurant, museum or tour is open. Easter Tuesday is also a bank holiday, but that does not mean all visitor businesses close. OSYPA publishes public-holiday and occasional special-service notices, which are more useful than assuming a weekday timetable.

Before a holiday outing, check three things: entry or reservation, the outward journey and the return. For a hotel stay, ask about the facilities and meal arrangements available on your exact dates. Our hotel shortlist and local guides can help you choose a base that reduces those repeated journeys.
