Three places with different stories
Salamis is the ancient-site part of the day, with substantial outdoor ruins rather than a compact indoor museum. Famagusta adds the walled old town, streets and historic buildings. Varosha is a separate part of the visit, connected to the island’s more recent history. Treat the outing as a chance to understand these contrasts. A short scheduled visit will not cover every monument, and the two tours need not spend equal time in each place.
Check documents before paying
These itineraries involve crossing a checkpoint. The operators ask for an original passport or eligible identity document; a driving licence or a photograph of a passport is not a substitute. Requirements can depend on nationality, residency and the documents used to enter Cyprus. Ask the operator to confirm your group’s eligibility before booking, including arrangements for children. Do not assume that a booking confirmation itself guarantees that everyone can cross.
Make room for the journey
This is one of the longer sightseeing choices from a Paphos base. Check the collection time as well as the advertised tour duration, and keep your return evening flexible. A coastal restaurant reservation immediately after the estimated finish adds avoidable pressure. Bring what you need for time in the vehicle and exposed outdoor stops, and ask about walking surfaces and rest opportunities if these affect your choice.
Compare the total, not just the ticket
The smaller-group option explicitly excludes admissions at Salamis and Othello Castle. Both options leave meals outside the basic ticket. Check whether each proposed attraction is a stop, an included visit or an optional extra; those descriptions mean different things. For a shorter history outing without the same journey, compare Kourion or a private Paphos tour before deciding that a full day across the island suits you.
